Made for Them | Fresno Friday

Fresno Friday

On this Fresno Friday, we are happy to highlight an amazing non-profit organization here in town! Made for Them is a clothing brand and organization that fights human trafficking while providing opportunities and support for survivors. Through their clothing, partnerships, and events, they are raising awareness and working to end modern day slavery!

We had the pleasure of partnering with Made for Them for their Fight with Fashion event just last week. This annual event is an evening of fashion, dance, education, and inspiration. Survivors of human trafficking share testimonies, and guests get a deeper understanding on how they can fight against trafficking in the Central Valley. It was really an honor to be part of the event this year. It is exciting to see so many people around the Valley come to learn more and support what Made for Them is doing daily. The performances were inspiring, the fashion was on point, and the stories of survivors brought hope for those coming out of trafficking. Keep scrolling below to see some photos from the evening!

Fight with Fashion is just one of the many events and services provided by Made for Them. Made for Them provides free counseling and case management for victims. They advocate to our government on behalf of those harmed by trafficking. They educate the community to spot the warning signs of traffickers and trafficking victims. (They can even come speak to your group personally!) They have worked with local law enforcement to identify areas of Fresno with high trafficking, and they visit these areas in person to start conversations of hope. They partner with other local organizations to ensure survivors have the support and tools they need to succeed. They know collaboration is essential to make a lasting impact. This organization is doing so much to prevent and stop trafficking, and help survivors succeed in their new freedom.

If you are wondering how to join the efforts of this amazing group, start by checking out their website! (http://www.madeforthem.org) Check out the beautiful clothing they have available for purchase, or see what community events you can get involved with!

I am thankful for the people behind Made for Them and their inspiring resolve to fight for those without a voice!

I have been admiring Nicole and Candi's work since I first saw it back in 2011. Over the years, I have been completely inspired by the incredible art they create, and I am so excited to feature them today on Fresno Friday! (Special thanks to Erica Houck for all of the photos used on the blog today! http://ericahouck.com) Let me introduce you to the talented ladies behind TradeMark Handmade Inspired! I asked them some fun questions this week, and they had some delightful answers! They also stumbled upon a new alternative to the traditional handshake greeting that I think we should all adopt asap! But we'll get to all of that at the end  ...

Milk & Honey | Fresno Friday
Last weekend, our booth was part of something new and exciting! We joined up with a team of local vendors for a hands-on bridal experience called Milk & Honey. It actually took place just outside of Fresno, in Tulare, but many of the vendors were local to Fresno. And since I make the rules around here, it still counts for Fresno Friday. :) The event came together like a dream. There was so much inspiration for both couples and vendors. This may have been the event’s first year, but you’d never know it by the way everything effortlessly flowed together! The coordinators behind the event, and all of the vendors involved did such an amazi ...

Fresno Knows Tacos | Fresno Friday
Fresno knows tacos. We make a lot of tacos in this city. And they are really, really good. In fact, our Triple-A baseball team "The Grizzlies" turns into "The Tacos" every year during the Taco Truck Throwdown. Call me cheesy, but our love of tacos is something that brings people together. :) Steven and I get pretty excited about finding the perfect tacos, so, this week, for the sake of research, Steven and I enjoyed 3 different taco shops. (It was for research, okay!?) Keep reading to see what shops and trucks we enjoyed, and what taco joint is still our favorite. You'll also want to scroll down to see Jackson trying a lemon for the first ...
